There are 4 main areas at Lake Tahoe: South Shore, Carson Pass area, North and West Shores, and the East Shore. Each area has unique attractions and its own personality. Lodgings abound in the busy South Shore area, although reservations are recommended during peak season, or if you’re looking for something particular. If you’re looking for nature experiences, though, skip South Shore and stay at one of the other areas—all of which are less congested.
